Barack Obama Wife and Dating History

By on Sep 30, 2014

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961. He spent most of his youth in Hawaii and moved to Los Angeles in 1979 after graduating from high school. He attended Occidental College until he transferred to Columbia in 1981. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983. The future president also attended Harvard and Chicago Law School. He is now in his second term as 44th President of the United States. Barack Obama girlfriend details are hard to come by but some have been identified in books and articles. Others are mere rumors. Of course we know ultimately Michelle became first lady as Barack Obama wife.

Let’s take a look at what we know about his dating life.

At 17 years old, “Barry” as he was called then, took the blonde hair, blue eyed Megan Hughes to his high school prom. Not much is known of their relationship, other than they went to the promo together, and afterward she left to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Alex McNear met “Barry” when they were students at Occidental College in the early 1980’s. They had what has been called “their summer of love” in 1981 when Obama had transferred to Columbia in New York City. This is considered the president’s first “serious” relationship and she was apparently attracted to his intellect. She ended up marrying a boxer by the name of Bob Bozic, whose biggest claim to fame was losing to champ Larry Holmes in a Madison Square Garden fight. She doesn’t talk much about her relationship with the president but has admitted voting for him.

In 1983, Barack met Australian Genevieve Cook who was a daughter of a diplomat. They had met at a mutual friend’s flat in New York and after some long conversations exchanged numbers. A few days later, Barack made good on his promise to call her and invited her over for dinner. She ended up spending the night. The president’s own memoir indicates he and Cook had a serious relationship that lasted about a year.

In 1989, Barack Obama got a summer internship at a Chicago law firm. There, the future leader of the free world was introduced to his adviser, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson. Since the two had attended Harvard, the firm thought they would be a good match. They had no idea what a good match they would be. The couple’s first date was apparently supposed to be a relatively clandestine one, a trip to the movies and some ice cream. After two years of dating and while taking in dinner to celebrate him passing the bar, Barack had a waiter bring a ring on a desert tray. The pair married on October 3rd, 1992 and they have two children.
